Mary Weeks Millard
Although by profession I was a nurse and a midwife, most of my adult life I have written small articles for magazines and also poetry and hymns, mostly for my own pleasure.
After my first husband’s death in 2000 I was asked to go to Africa on short term mission work. On these visits I met some wonderful people with amazing personal stories, and I began writing their biographies. I loved telling their stories and gradually the Lord showed me that I could write stories for children and young people which would be a way of sharing the gospel and discipling them.
As a child reading Christian books helped me to understand the gospel message even though it wasn’t until my late teens that I accepted Christ into my life as my own Saviour. I find writing for young people great fun and I know the Lord gives me ideas.
One of the special joys has been that my own grandchildren read and love the books. Each book is to me like an offering of the loaves and fishes and I pray the Lord will break it and feed the children.
